The Muay Thai benefits nobody puts on a poster.
Yes, you burn a lot of calories. So does a bike. What makes Muay Thai different is that you learn something while you sweat, and that your body and your head change in a way the treadmill never manages. Here's what you can genuinely expect.

I won't promise you'll lose ten kilos or gain confidence in a month. I will promise an hour in which you don't look at your phone once.
Five things my students notice, in the order they usually notice them.
Week 1: everything hurts and you want to come back
Pad work wakes up muscles the gym ignores: hips, obliques, shoulders. And the strange thing is you want to do it again, because an hour flies.
Week 3: coordination
The jab, the cross and the kick start coming out without thinking. For many adults it's the first new physical skill they've learned since school.
Week 5: real endurance
Three rounds on the pads stop wiping you out. Cardio capacity goes up, without the monotony of running in a straight line.
Week 8: your head
Hitting pads with technique is one of the most effective things I know for letting go of the day's stress. That's not my opinion, it's what people keep telling me.
Week 10: quiet confidence
Not the kind that goes looking for trouble. The kind that knows your body responds, that you know where your feet are, and that you can handle more than you thought.
Muay Thai versus gym and running, fairly.
None of the options is bad. It depends on what you're after. This is what each gives you and what it doesn't.
| Gym | Running | Muay Thai 1-on-1 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Calories per hour | Medium, depending on what you do | High | High, with natural intervals |
| You learn a skill | No | No | Yes, for life |
| Someone corrects your technique | Nobody | Nobody | Every rep |
| Your head | Thinks about work | Thinks about work | Impossible to think about anything else |
| Monotony | High | High | No two sessions are the same |
| Monthly cost | €30 to €60 | €0 | €120 for 4 sessions, €108 with the pack |
What Muay Thai doesn't guarantee.
I'd rather tell you now than after you've paid.
- Losing weight without changing anything else. Training helps, a lot. But one session a week doesn't make up for the other 167 hours. If that's your goal, we talk about it and plan it properly.
- Confidence in a month. It comes, but it comes with consistency. Ten sessions is when most people start to feel it.
- Being able to defend yourself just from training. The sport gives you tools. A real situation also needs awareness and decisions. I have a whole page on that.
Questions about benefits and results.
Do I have to want to fight to start?
No. I train plenty of people who will never spar and never need to. Technique, pads and conditioning are a complete workout on their own.
How many sessions a week before I notice something?
Once a week, without gaps, is the minimum that works. With two, the changes come much sooner.
Is Muay Thai good for losing weight?
It's one of the highest calorie burns per hour, yes. But I won't promise you a number. It depends on the rest of your week, and we talk about that honestly in the first session.
Is it good for stress?
It's what my students mention most. An hour hitting pads with technique leaves the head clearer than anything else they've tried.
Try it for an hour and judge for yourself.
€30 for the first session, gloves included. If it's not for you, you've spent €30 and an hour finding out.
