Jiu-Jitsu lessons in Torre del Mar. No strikes.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the smaller person's martial art: control, positions and submissions instead of strength and strikes. It's what decides what happens when a fight goes to the ground, and it's the safest for your head of everything I teach. I'm a purple belt. €30 for a 60-minute session. Fill in the short form and I'll reply by email, usually within a few hours.
The short form here. Tell me if you've done any grappling, even school judo.
Torre del Mar, or I travel to Vélez-Málaga, Nerja, Rincón or Málaga.
Cash or Bizum at the end. No upfront payment for a first session.
Who Jiu-Jitsu is for, and why I teach it.
You don't want to give or take strikes
It's the only martial art I teach where the head isn't in play. You can train at real intensity without getting hurt, which is why people do it into their 70s.
You want to know what to do if you're grabbed
Most real situations end in a grab or on the ground. Jiu-Jitsu is what works there: getting out from underneath, controlling, and getting up.
You're smaller than your problem
Jiu-Jitsu was born so a smaller person can control a bigger one with technique and leverage. You don't need strength, you need to understand it.
You want a mental game
It's chess with the body. Every position has an answer and every answer a counter. It hooks people who never thought they'd like a combat sport.
The first ten Jiu-Jitsu sessions.
Survive
How to fall, how to breathe with someone on top of you, the basic positions and how to escape the worst of them: the mount. Without this, nothing else works.
Control
Closed guard, passing the guard, side control and mount. Learning to be on top and stay on top.
Finish
The first submissions that really work: basic chokes and the armbar. And when not to use them and simply leave.
Rolling
Jiu-Jitsu sparring, known as rolling. It's controlled, stops with a tap, and it's where Jiu-Jitsu becomes addictive.
No contract, no joining fee. With or without a gi, depending on what you have and your goal. Mats included.
Torre del Mar base. Travel to Vélez-Málaga, Nerja, Rincón de la Victoria and Málaga.
Questions before booking Jiu-Jitsu.
Do I need a gi?
Not to start. We work no-gi in training clothes. If you have your own or want to train in one, we use it.
Do you award belts?
No. Jiu-Jitsu belts are awarded by a black belt within an academy. I'm a purple belt: I teach you so that when your belt comes at an academy, it's earned.
Is it safe? The joint locks worry me.
It's the safest of the combat sports. Everything stops with a tap, there are no strikes, and I set the intensity. Injuries come from rushing, and there's no rushing here.
Does it work for self-defence?
For what happens when you're grabbed or go down, it's the most effective thing there is. For what happens before, standing and at distance, I combine it with Muay Thai and the avoidance layer.
How much does it cost?
€30 for a 60-minute session, €270 for the 10-pack. No joining fee.
